IV. The Lord’s Prayer “Us” Petitions
The “Us” petitions of the Lord’s Prayer are surmounted by the triangle of the Holy Trinity, with the rays of His beneficence extending from God’s hand to the sheaf of grain.
The key symbolizes Christ’s authority, given to the Church, to forgive the sins of all who truly confess them.
Gods’ hand above the petitions is in the position of supplying our material needs, – “our daily bread.” His hand at the bottom is in the position of supplying our spiritual needs, – “forgive us our trespasses.” Bracketed between the hands of God are the “Us” petitions.
