The Creed – Ascension

The Ascension of Christ into heaven would be anticlimactic after the resurrection were it not the last act of Jesus’ earthy ministry. Through His ascension, He returned into heaven and resumed the glory which He had with the Father before the world was created.

In this scene, Jesus stands with a rock below Him and the stars of heaven above Him. One hand is raised in benediction, the other is Jesus’ characteristic attitude of giving.

The words, “He ascended into heaven” are from the Second Article of the Creed and have their origin in Mark 16:19 and Luke 24:51.
