Salem's etched window - love to god

XIII. The Commandments – Love to God

Here we have the exemplification of the first three commandments; love of God!

The triangle at the top is a symbol for the Holy Trinity. The Hebrew word “Adonoi” meaning “Lord our God” within the triangle signifies that God is eternal.

“Adonoi” is used to express the prayer in Deuteronomy 6:4, “Hear O Israel! The Lord our God is One Lord.” This verse, together with verse 5; “and you shall love your God with all your hear and with all your soul and with all your might,” adds explanation and emphasis to the commandments dealing with our love of God.

The Cross, the Church and the open Bible, are symbols and expressions of our continuing love of God.The candelabra, represents the seven gifts of the Holy Spirit: the power of wisdom and understanding, the spirit of counsel and might, knowledge and the fear of the Lord, the spirit of joy and God’s presence.
